A mother can and her five kittens were found abandoned in a crate with a bag of food on the top in the Trustco Bank parking lot on Wednesday. Several people expressed concern over the little family, but were reluctant to take on the responsibility. Fortunately, help was to be found. Holly Rosenberg and Aimee Allen, long associated with SOCS (Support Our Canine Strays) are concerned about the number of animals that are being found abandoned. “It’s happening more and more,” said Rosenberg. “These are the fourth ones this past month, and we haven’t even hit winter!” The latest was this attractive tuxedo cat and her five kittens, all flea infested. Allen is fostering them. They will be looked at by professionals and checked for feline leukemia and other diseases. Once they are cleared they will be be neutered and available for adoption.  “Cats reproduce quickly,” said Rosenberg. “One family moved out of their apartment and left their cat behind. Now the cat has six kittens. And another pregnant cat was found abandoned.”

Besides the cats and kittens Allen has an abandoned eight to ten year old Chihuahua that needs a home.
