Dorothy M. Teal

Berlin – Dorothy M. Rhodes Teal, 77, of Plank Road, Berlin, NY, died on Saturday evening, October 25, 2008, at her residence after a brief illness.

Born February 24, 1931, and a life-long resident of Berlin, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Gladys Haywood Rhodes. She was the loving wife of the late William A. Teal, Sr. who died in January of 1987. Dorothy attended Berlin schools and worked at Cluett, Peabody, Co. in Troy, NY, before becoming a homemaker.

She worked in a domestic capacity for many families through the years along with being a care provider. Most recently Dorothy worked in the kitchen of the Everett Wagar Senior Service Center in Grafton, NY, until the past year. She was an active member of both the Berlin and Grafton Seniors where she enjoyed the many friends that she made through the years. She was an avid Lawrence Welk fan and loved the color pink, and her favorite pastime was talking on the telephone with her friends.

Survivors include two sons, William Teal Jr. of Eagle Bridge, NY, and Dean F. and his wife Leslie Teal of Berlin, a brother, Robert and wife Julie Rhodes of Poestenkill, NY, a sister, Marjorie and husband Paul Rivard of Berlin, grandchildren, Kathy and  husband Joey Burdick of Cherry Plain, NY, Joseph Teal of Florida, Kerri Teal of Cherry Plain, great-grandchildren, Aaron, Kyle and Hannah Burdick, and her dear friends, Marsha Jones of Dyken Pond and Lucy LaRusso of Petersburgh, NY. 

Graveside services were on Wednesday, October 29, at 11 am in the Brookside Cemetery, Plank Road (1.3 miles east from the intersection of Plank Road and State Route 351), Poestenkill, NY, where Rev. Trygve Tomlinson officiated.

Relatives and friends were invited to the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh, for visitation on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm.
