The Berlin Lady Mountaineers soccer team found itself in the same boat the boys team had been in the day before. A #6 seed facing the #3 seed Middleburgh on the Knights’ home field.

Just like the boys team, Berlin struck first. With 32:17 remaining in the first half Emily Dooley crossed a ball into the middle of the goalie box. The Middleburgh goalie mishandled the ball, and Rachel Ferris was there to take it away and poke it into the net for the 1-0 lead.
Berlin held the Knights at bay for the next fifteen minutes or so, but after that it was all Middleburgh. With 17:13 left, the defense allowed a Middleburgh forward into the center of the penalty area all alone and her teammates found her for a rocket shot into the net. Five minutes later it was a similar play that goalie Erin Hogan blocked at first, but her defense could not clear the ball, and Middleburgh scored again, taking a 2-1 lead which would hold until after halftime.
In the second half Middleburgh tacked on two more goals, walking away with a 4-1 victory as they advanced in sectionals. The Lady Mountaineers ended their season with a 10-7-1 record and finished third in the Central Hudson Valley League with at 10-4 record.
