Fidel Moreno welcomes guests last Saturday at the Open House of the White Eagle Gallery and Meditation Center in Stephentown Center. Moreno was explaining here the significance and symbolism of the parts and construction of the Native American tipi used in the Northern Plains. The poles are cut at sunrise, cleaned, put up and the cover installed. Then a celebratory meal is held. Each of the 13 poles represents a teaching. The pole at the opposite end of the entrance is the Chief’s pole. Then there is the harmony pole and the beauty pole. The fire in the center represents God’s tongue speaking to us.
