The Board of Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center is pleased to announce they will be opening a Veterans Hall Cafe on November 3. The kitchen will be open each weekday from 7 to 10 am for coffee and homemade baked goods. It will be a relaxed atmosphere with donations going into a can. It is hopeful that the cafe will turn a profit which will help pay for the utilities in the Hall.
Petersburgh Veterans whose names are on the wall or inside board will not be charged for their coffee. Other veterans can get their coffee for what it cost them when they joined the service or 50 cents, whichever is less. A donation of $1 is requested of others.
The Board requests that members of the community patronize the cafe. It is hoped that some would help by bringing in baked goods or setting up the coffee. Perhaps some bakers in the community would occasionally double their recipes and donate half to the Hall. Spontaneous donations would be very welcome. Volunteers who prefer to schedule donation dates may sign up ahead of time. This would prevent a feast one day and a famine the next. There will be a sign up sheet available in the Hall or volunteers can contact Mary Lou Walters at 658-0136 or marylouwalters@taconic.net.
The Methodist Church will have the hall on Tuesday, November 4, for their Election Day meals, and they will have donuts available for breakfast that day.
Save the date of Saturday, November 8, for the annual Veterans Day Pot Luck Supper with entertainment by all members of the Hill Hollow Band.
Observation Post Dedication
A ribbon cutting ceremony will begin the festivities unveiling the replica of the Petersburgh Observation Post. The dedication ceremony begins at 4 pm. The Pot Luck Supper is at 5 with music to follow.
