Walking At The Petersburgh Veterans Hall

October 17, 2008 By eastwickpress

The Board at the Petersburgh Veterans Memorial Community Center is making an effort to get their community street walkers under cover. Beginning Nov. 3, The Veterans Memorial Hall will be open each week day for walking from 7 to 10 am. If school is closed that day then the Hall will be closed for walking as well. There is no fee associated with this.

Since the hall will  be kept at its usual non-use temperature of 50 degrees a light jacket would be appropriate.  In order to minimize cleaning costs, it is requested that walkers bring sneakers and leave their wet boots at the door.

The Board is looking for volunteers to open and close the Hall. If anyone is interested in opening the Hall earlier than 7 am, they are welcome to do so. A schedule is being set up by Mary Lou Walters.  She can be contacted at 658-0136 or marylouwalters@taconic.net.

In addition to walking in the Hall there will also be other activities in the kitchen for walkers and non-walkers alike. Details of this will be forthcoming.
