A Dharma Talk And Protection Ceremony

November 28, 2008 By eastwickpress

The public is cordially invited to attend A Dharma Talk and Protection Ceremony by Venerable Rahob Rinpoche at the Petersburgh Rahob Dharma Center from 11 am to 1:30 pm on Saturday, November 29.Rahob Rinpoche’s sister, Rigjit, milks one of her fifty “Dhree” (female yak) twice a day. Their family has a stone house, but they prefer to live on mountaintops moving their tents to richer pastures protecting their animals. Their empty house is open for passersby to stay free!

We all seek protection, peace and a place to settle. You can find this here in Petersburgh. Many people think protection blessings from a Buddhist lama-in-residence is not beneficial unless converting to Buddhism, but that is not the case. Whether you believe in protection by angels, spirit guides, ancestors, deities, gods or those from duel universes, you need to give thanks, offerings and realization to their protection. Rahob Rinpoche will give a talk on the subject, an offering ceremony and blessings for protection. He welcomes equally Christians, Hindi, Jews, Muslims, and those identified with non-religious spirituality.

The Offering Ceremony begins with holy water, mustard seeds and cotton cloth for the protectors.

Protection Blessings help clear negativities for the whole family, and your business. Pets receive Free Life blessings, protecting them from abuse and euthanasia. Crops, new homes, and even cars are blessed to protect from disasters and accidents. Individual protection knots will be given to those wanting protection blessings, while others can just come, sit back and enjoy experiencing this traditional celebration.

Rahob Rinpoche began his career as the reincarnated head of Rahob Monastery in Tibet at the age of three. His lifetime dedication in helping others is inspiring to all of us. He graciously offers his knowledge and exuberance for life to those who wish to receive it. Rinpoche holds retreats, teaches non-sectarian meditation practices and conducts educational outreach programs on meditation.

Enjoy a homemade cheese ravioli $8 lunch that starts at noon. Members are offering homemade pies, cookies and crafts also for sale.

The Rahob Dharma Center is located at 18 Hewitt Road; take the first left on Route 22 after the junction of Routes 2 and 22 in Petersburgh. Call R.D.C. at 518-658-8811 for directions or for more information.
