Alvia Irma Sulpizi

Hoosick Falls – Alvia Irma Sulpizi, 77, died Thursday, November 20, 2008, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, VT. She resided on Seward Street in Hoosick Falls, NY, and was the wife of the late John Sulpizi.Born in the Bronx, NY, on May 25, 1931, Alvia was the daughter of the late Charles and Sophie (Tomasi) Sulpizi. She attended schools in New York City. Alvia was the bookkeeper at the family business in New York, the New York Statuary and Lamp Shop. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls and enjoyed shopping, playing bingo and spending time with her family.

Alvia is survived by nine daughters, Jane Pascazio and Joan Dissalvatore both of the Bronx, Maryann Cara of Florida, Nancy Saurger, Denise Barcomb, Darlene Acevedo, and Lori Dessler all of Hoosick Falls, Debbie Sulpizi of Pittsfield, MA, and Maryann Cone of Eagle Bridge, NY, three sons, John Sulpizi Jr. of Greenwich, NY, Keith Sulpizi of Tampa, FL, and Scott Sulpizi of Pennsylvania, two sisters, two brothers, many grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by a sister.

Funeral services were Saturday, November 22, at 8:30 am from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Friends were invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial offered at 9 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial followed the Mass at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hoosick Falls.

Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 9 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
