Hoosick Falls – Anthony J. Kovage, 86, formerly of Church Street, Hoosick Falls, NY, died on Sunday morning, November 16, 2008, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center where he had resided since July of 2005.
Born October 3, 1922, in Hoosick Falls, he was the son of the late Steven and Anna Lugas Kovage. He was the loving husband of Polita C. Carlos Kovage, who died on December 1, 1990. They were married in 1953.
A lifelong resident of Hoosick Falls, Mr. Kovage attended St. Mary’s Academy and was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church. Tony served his country with the United States Army during World War II in the Philippines. After his honorable discharge, he worked at the Watervliet Arsenal. Mr. Kovage then had a career with Wood Flong Co.(Lydall Co.) in Hoosick Falls that spanned 40 years, retiring in 1987 as a millwright. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his children and their spouses Anthony J., Jr. and Sue Kovage, and Thea and Erwin Hambright and a granddaughter, Christina Kovage, all of Hoosick Falls, a sister, Anna LaFlamme of Bennington, VT, and a dear friend Helen Markewicz. He was pre-deceased by siblings Stanley, John and Charles Kovage.
A Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial was celebrated by Rev. James Clark on Thursday, November 20, at 9:30 am in the Immaculate Conception Church, Main Street, Hoosick Falls. Burial will be private. The family accepted visitors at the Church starting at 9 am.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hoosick Falls Health Center Activity Fund, 21 Danforth Street, Hoosick Falls, NY, 12090. Arrangements were under the direction of the Robson-Reinfurt Funeral Home of Hoosick Falls.
