Mrs. Burdick’s Third Grade Class held a mock election for K-6 classes at the Hoosick Falls Central School on Tuesday, November 4. Third Grade students, sporting white styrofoam hats with red, white and blue ribbon bands, “registered” voters, held the curtain of the “magic voting booth,” and rewarded voters with election candy and patriotic stickers.
Previous grade-level activities included debating the issues and the candidates and writing presidential essays in an effort to “gear up” for the event.
Student reporters announced that the students had “called it,” as Barack Obama won over John McCain with 361 votes to 273. Mrs. Burdick reported that the energy and enthusiasm displayed were contagious.
