An unfortunate gun accident took the life of newly appointed Grafton Lakes State Park Manager Robert C. Taylor on Thanksgiving Day. Taylor had previously managed Schodack Island State Park. In August he replaced Tom Conklin who had managed Grafton Lakes, Cherry Plain and the Bennington Battlefield for 23 years.
New York State Parks Assistant Regional Director Bob Kuhn said he and the Regional Director have visited with the staff at GLSP and assured them of their help during this transition. Kuhn said the Park’s second in command, John Low, will be in charge during the interim.
Taylor and his family had not moved into the Park Manager’s house in Grafton yet as it is undergoing extensive renovation.
Kuhn said they are just starting the Park Manager search process. It will be at least a couple of weeks yet before the job is posted, he added.
