Alice H. Carpenter

Stephentown – Alice Hazel Carpenter, 83, formerly of Troy, NY, and Stephentown, NY, died peacefully in her sleep at her residence in Delmar, NY, on Friday, November 28, 2008.

 

Born in Stephentown on August 13, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Fred Alton and Blanche Edith Southard Carpenter. Alice attended school in a two-room school house in Stephentown until the eighth grade before moving to Troy where she was a 1943 graduate of Troy High School. She resided in Grafton, NY, from 1960 to 1981 before moving to Miller Avenue in Brunswick, NY.

Alice was employed by Western Union from 1943 until 1960 and at Behr-Manning Co. in Watervliet, NY, from 1961 until her retirement in 1985. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Fred Delmar Carpenter.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 6, at 10 am in the Hancock Baptist Church, Main Street, Hancock, MA. Inurnment will follow in the Stephentown Cemetery. Hall & Higgins Funeral Home of Stephentown is in charge of arrangements.
