Leona E. Goodermote

Hoosick – Leona E. Goodermote, 86, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at the Hoosick Falls Health Center. She had resided on Tory Hill Road, Potter Hill, Hoosick, NY, and was the wife of the late Earl R. Goodermote, who died in 1975.

Born on May 21, 1922, in Hoosick, Leona was the daughter of the late W. Edward and Mary F. (Brundige) Philpott. She graduated from Hoosick Falls High School in 1941. Leona worked on the family farm for years and also at Stanley Tools in Bennington, VT. Leona enjoyed gardening and sewing. She was a member of the Hoosick Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Marla Nowak, a son, Lester Goodermote, and a sister, Elsie Domine, all of Hoosick Falls, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Leona is pre-deceased by a twin sister, Leila Shaw, who died October 13, 2008.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday, December 20, at 11 am from the Hoosick Baptist Church. Burial will follow the service at Hoosick Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm.

Leona’s family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at the Hoosick Falls Health Center, Dr. James Carroll, Dr. Michael Romac and Pastor Dale Hall for all they did for Leona.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either the Hoosick Baptist Church or the Hoosick Falls Health Center through the funeral home.
