Letter To The Editor – A Little Angry

December 5, 2008 By eastwickpress

To the Editor:

Permit me to be a little angry at the six Democratic County Legislators who decided to play politics instead of supporting the 2009 Rensselaer County Budget.

I am angry as a taxpayer because the 2009 County budget holds the line on taxes. And the 2009 County budget provides the funding needed to maintain important County services.

Most of all, the budget is a bright spot in what has been a tough period for taxpayers. We have not gotten much good news from the State or Federal governments, and it could get worse in the future.

Why all six Democrats in the County Legislature decided not to support a budget and stand up for County taxpayers is beyond me. Taxpayers deserve a County budget that does not raise taxes and protects services, and Democrats were wrong to play politics and vote in opposition to the budget.

Sincerely,

Thomas Lane
