PVMCC will feature Steven Marking and Friends at the final NYS Art$ Grant funded Music & Art CafÄ Program on Thursday, December 18th from 7 to 9 pm. Steven Marking and Karen Webster will present the songs of Michael Flanders and Donald Swann. Flanders & Swann wrote witty and satirical songs in Great Britain, some about Britons and some about grotesque animals. Songs included will be “The Warthog,” “The Gnu,” “The Sloth,” “The Armadillo” and “The Hippopotamus.” After intermission, Dottie Cross will accompany Steven Marking and his students on Christmas songs.
Music and Art CafÄ program will be continuing in 2009 but on the 3rd Friday of the month. Musicians interested in performing should contact PVMCC at 518-658-3260.
Decadent Donuts
The Veterans Hall CafÄ staff would like to thank the elf who left the bakery donuts hanging on the door of PVMCC. The wonderful decadent donuts were added to the usual tasty homemade goodies the CafÄ offers. The CafÄ continues to be open each day from 7 to 10 am. Volunteers have stepped up to help man the CafÄ but more are needed to cover planned absences over the next few months. Sign up can be done in the hall entrance or by calling or emailing Mary Lou Walters at 658-0136 or marylouwalters@taconic.net. At this point the greatest need will be for ‘closers’ in the month of January.
For those healthy minded souls who are trying to avoid donuts and live healthier, PVMCC wants to help. The Hall will continue to be open for walking each weekday from 7 to 10 am. There will be 8 weeks of free blood pressure checks each Monday morning, commencing December 15, until February 2.
For those whose New Year’s Resolutions include weight loss, PVMCC can help. Low fat, high fiber goodies will be offered as an alternative choice in the CafÄ. Beginning January 1 PVMCC may be offering a “biggest loser” contest. There will be a small weekly fee, but the winner of the contest will get that money and much more back!
