SMA Cabaret: A Great Night Of Entertainment

December 12, 2008 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson

It’s astounding that a plain school gymnasium can be transformed into a lovely Cabaret time after time. Yet every year the volunteers at St. Mary’s Academy manage to perform their magic act. The hors d’oeuvres and desserts were excellent as always.

Vocalists Ric DiDonato, Shari Hand, Dave Sutton, Maeghan DiMaggio and Joe Shaw, accompanied by Richard Cherry, Tim Patrick and Rich LaPlante, put on a musical performance that would warm even Scrooge’s heart. St. Mary’s is fortunate to have such talented artists to perform for them. Maeghan, a Junior at HFCS, was a new addition to the group, and she performed beautifully. More than one person commented that she was a singing star on the rise. The rest performed to their usual high standard, singing many of their favorite songs. It was a delightful evening and put everyone in a holiday mood, one perfect for selecting a Christmas present from the many silent auction items.

Ric DiDonato read “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” as part of the SMA Cabaret last Saturday night. Joe Shaw, Dave Sutton, Maegan DiMaggio and Shari Hand sang holiday songs that fit right in with the story. (Bea Peterson photo)
