At the Stephentown Fire District #1 election on Tuesday, Frank Zwack, Sr. was re-elected to another 5 year term as Fire Commissioner and Andrew Maguire was re-elected to another 3 year term as District Treasurer. Both ran unopposed. Election Inspector and Ballot Clerk Linda Sullivan reported that Zwack received 21 votes and Maguire received 19 votes.
Also currently serving on the Board of Fire Commissioners are Sylvester Close, Lewis Sharp, Earl Buffa and William Jennings. Jennings also serves as District Secretary. The Commissioners are the governing board for the Fire District. They establish the budget, audit claims against the District and are responsible to see that equipment and buildings are maintained. They run for staggered terms. An election is held each year normally for one Fire Commissioner.
