Saturday, November 23, 1850: I mended stable floor and banked up the house. Today my two daughters and the wife of James M. Glass went on a visit to Samuel Beers. They went with my horse and Mr. J. M. Glass wagon. When they had got nearly there the axletree broke and they walked a short distance to reach Mr. Beers, and when they returned home at night Mr. Beers fetched them part of the way and they walked to Geo W. Glass factory and from there they rode in my wagon for Geo P. had been to work on my Fairbanks lot making fence. This afternoon Geo P. took the broken wagon to Glass’s factory to Tayer’s shop to be mended by Tayer could not mend it.
Monday: Today I took my one horse wagon and rode to Pittsfield and I paid up a note of fifty dollars to J.A. Gold Esq. the note I gave him the 12th of the present month, and I took dinner with him and then I called to Jarvis and got my coat I left to be cut out last Friday. Today
Geo P. took the first ten bushels of ears of corn of Mr. John Russel on a contract of 50 bushels at 25 cts per.
Tuesday: Today some snow and rain. This afternoon we chopped a black oak tree and sawed three logs and drew down from the woods for to be sawed into plank for stable floor.
Wednesday: Today I took my one horse wagon and went to Hancock and carried ten and a half bushels turnips. I called to Mr. Acox and paid nine dollars which was the interest on a note of 150 dollars up to the 22nd of the present month.
Friday: This morning I walked over to my Rodgers farm. I went to reckon with Mr. Aaron Merrils. but his wife was not to home to tell what their charges were for spinning and we agreed on tomorrow to reckon for his wife would be home.
Saturday: This forenoon I walked over to Mr. Aaron Merrils and reckoned with him and his wife. We passed receits of one hundred and fifty nine dollars in full of whatever name or nature up to this date with an exception said Merrils is to fodder the nine head cattle part of the winter and his wife is to spins six pounds of wool and what wool she now has on hand.
