A Windmill For Bovie Hill Road

January 23, 2009 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson

Francis Knapp of Bovie Hill Road came before the Hoosick Planning Board Tuesday night with plans to build a windmill to provide electricity to two homes on his property. He said NYSERDA was overseeing the project, which must follow nationalgrid rules. However, NYSERDA told him that he had to have approval from the Planning Board.

Members of the Board reviewed the material he brought with him and said it was not sufficient. They told him they want to see a survey map marked with the exact location of the windmill. They would also like to see a “to scale” computer drawing of the windmill. They suggested he contact the windmill company and have them put together such an image. They also told him they would like to see a written narrative instead of the short answers he had provided them at this session. He will return next month.

Simple Subdivision

Realtor Rick Tinkham returned to the Board again this month regarding plans for a simple subdivision on Fog Hill Road. He was accompanied by the property owner, Bryan Pello. They presented a map showing the division of 21 acres of land they want to divide into two five acre parcels and one 10 acre parcel. The five acre parcels will have 200 foot frontage. The 10 acre parcel will have a minimum of 50 feet of frontage. They told the Board a buyer or buyers would be welcome to buy one, two or all three parcels. The Board voted to declare the property a simple subdivision.

In the absence of Board Chairman Jim Dunigan, the meeting was chaired by Board Member Everett Quackenbush.

Because of a scheduling conflict, the next meeting of the Hoosick Planning Board will be Tuesday, February 17, at 7:30 pm.
