Martha Jane Hanselman

Hoosick Falls – Martha Jane Hanselman, 84, died January 18, 2009, in Pompano Beach, FL, where she had resided for several years. She formerly resided in Hoosick Falls, NY, and was the wife of the late Fred Hanselman.

 

Born on November 26, 1924, in Bennington, VT, Jane was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Hackett) Sausville. Jane graduated from Bennington High School class of 1942 and St. Joseph’s College with an Associates Degree. She worked for the Furman’s Insurance Company in Florida and was the Insurance Person of the year at one time. She attended St. Coleman’s Catholic church in Pompano Beach and was a former communicant of St. Francis DeSales Church in Bennington. Jane was an avid sports fan, especially of the Florida Marlins.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews, Mary Jane Barbaro of Boca, FL, Maureen Desmarais of Jaffery, NH, Justine Scanlon of Bennington, Joseph Scanlon of Townshend, VT, Jane Scanlon of San Francisco, CA, Marlene Cashes of Dudley, MA, Linda Hurley of Cossayuna, NY, and Mary Lane of Cambridge, NY. She is also survived by several grand nieces and grand nephews. She is pre-deceased by five sisters, Justine Mahoney, Florence King, Alma Langlois, Marie Scanlon and Catherine Yaroz.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, February 6, at 9:30 am from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter through the funeral home.
