Saturday, March 15, 1851: I this forenoon washed out my tenant house that is near J. M. Glass and this afternoon I drew a load manure on the garden. Towards night I measured seven bushel of Geo P. potatoes to Henry Hull at 75 cents per bushel, but said Hull did not pay for the potatoes. John F. took the one horse wagon and carried one and a half bushels corn and left to Adams Mill to swap for a grist of rye, and then he went to Palmer Barnes to the Arbitration where the taking of affidavits of voters.
Monday: Today some snowy. Geo P. bought Wm B. Maxon’s sheep at 112 cents per head and is to return the fleece and said Maxon is to fodder said sheep through to grass, and Geo P. fixed a yard for his sheep to said Maxon’s barn.
Tuesday: Today I and John F. chopped and drew off the hill two oak, two chestnut, one maple logs and we went to John Conklin’s saw mill with said logs with two ox teams, we went with wagon and sled. Today Geo P. went to Lebanon and left a grist one and a half bushel wheat to Adams Mill to be ground and he carried 45 pounds butter and had credited to Moses Tilden’s store and had the butter credited 15 cts per pound. He went to the Shakers and had the carrot seed cleaned and bought 12 ounces onion seed 56 cents.
Wednesday: Today I and Geo P. repaired a sled and got three oak logs off the hill and I went to Conklin’s saw mill with them with ox team and sled, and John F. carried five dozen eggs to Lapum’s store at 12 cts per doz. Today Alexander Celinbaum moved in my house.
Thursday: Today I and Geo P. went onto the Fairbanks lot with ox team and sled and drew rails. Today John F. went to Lebanon to N. Nichols with Geo P. fat oxen and the two weighed thirty eight hundred and fifty pounds, and John F. drew Alexander Celinbaum a load apple wood.
Friday: I and Geo P. drew rails on the Fairbanks lot and Geo Dimon and his father split rails for Geo P. and split nearly 200 at 62 cts per hundred. Tonight returning home we fetched a grist of rye from Adams Mill.
