Events At The Hoosick Falls Youth & Community Center

Beat the winter doldrums and head over to the Hoosick Falls Youth & Community Center for several new and exciting activities being offered for children and adults.

Pilates Class

Starting on February 3, a group mat Pilates class will be led by certified instructor Donna Menneto every Tuesday morning at 8:45 a.m. The class is open to all fitness levels and ages. Classes are low impact and will leave participants feeling refreshed, centered and revitalized.

Architecture & Design

     Introduce your young architect or engineer to the fundamentals of architectural design in this hands-on class on Saturday, February 14. Limited to six participants, children will use form board, rulers and exacto knives to create a self-designed structure.

Pet Portraits

   “Dabble with your Palette” on Saturday, February 28. Children will create portraits of their favorite goldfish, dog, skunk, horse, cat, tarantula, sea monkey or stuffed animal using paints, palettes, canvases and their imaginations. Limited to ten participants.

Ugly Dolls

“Ugly is the new Pretty” as participants create the most amusing stuffed animals ever seen on Saturday, March 7. Stray socks, gloves and fabric become adorably ugly creature dolls. Limited to 10 participants.

Winter Camp

Campers will travel the world during Winter Camp 2009 at the Youth Center. From Monday, February 16 through Friday, February 20, participants will explore the games, crafts, art, culture and food of Japan, Peru, Madagascar, Iceland and India. Open to elementary school children.

Nominal fees are charged for each class and supplies are included. To find out more or to register, call the Youth Center at 686-9050. Financial assistance is available.
