Petersburgh – Harriette Rose Weeden died Thursday morning, February 19, 2009, at her home, being lovingly cared for by her son Walter Jay Weeden and daughter Carol W. Sweet. She was the beloved wife of the late Willard “Jug” Weeden.
Born in Saratoga, NY, on Nov. 7, 1926, she was the daughter of Thomas K. Rose, Sr. and Violet Ingraham Rose. The family moved to Petersburgh, NY, in the 1940s.
Harriette was a Stanley Tools dealer for many years and worked at Nancy Shoe Factory when she was younger. She loved to travel and went to Italy, Ireland, Hawaii and on many cruises. She wintered in St. Cloud, FL. She was a former member of the Petersburgh Fire Auxiliary, Berlin Historical Society, the Garden Club and Petersburgh Senior Citizens. She was well known for her cooking and enjoyed playing games and cards.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Walter and his wife Christine Weeden, Carol and her husband John Sweet, grandchildren, Casey, Jeramy and Tiffany, great-grandchildren, Elijah and Jayden, step-grandchildren, Melanie Estes and Justin Schwarz, siblings, Thomas K. and wife Connie Rose Jr. of North Carolina, the late Richard M. Rose of Marlboro, NY, Ruth and her husband John Thomsen of Newburgh, NY, Beverley and her husband J. Roy Kantrowitz of Brunswick, NY, and June and her husband Stanley Varner of Minnesota.
Funeral services were at noon on Saturday, February 21, in the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, where Rev. Gaylord “Jake” Campbell officiated. Burial followed beside her beloved husband in the Meadowlawn Cemetery, Hewitt Road. Relatives and friends were invited to the funeral home for visitation on Saturday from 10 am until the start of the service.

A special thank you should go out to John Sweet (son-in-law) and Christine Weeden (daughter-in-law) who were so helpful during these last few months along with Everett and Alice Brock (lifelong friends) who were always there for Harriette.
