Hazel Myers

Hoosick Falls – Hazel Elizabeth Myers, 90, of 7 Albany Street, Hoosick Falls, NY, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT, after a short illness, surrounded by her nieces Joanne Babcock and Mildred Pierce and a very close friend Barbara Wrubelski. She was the wife of the late Alvin James Myers who died on December 31, 1998.

 

Born on November 9, 1918, in Hoosick Falls, Hazel was the daughter of the late Frederick E. and Mary (Jones) Rowe. She graduated from schools in Hoosick Falls. She married Alvin on August 21, 1943, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Hoosick Falls. Hazel worked at the Colasta Company and later at the Albany Felt Company as Department Head for thirty-eight years until her retirement. She was a very active and involved member of St. Mark’s Church, where she was head of the Alter Guild and St. Hilda’s Guild.

She leaves behind her nieces, Joanne and Mildred, along with several other nieces and nephews, and her close friends, Barbara Wrubelski, Margaret Eddy, Karen Smith and Susan Mattat.

Funeral services are Friday, February 6, at 11 am from St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church through the funeral home.
