After starting their Central Hudson Valley League schedule undefeated through 11 games, the Berlin Lady Mountaineers lost their first league game on Tuesday against Emma Willard.
Emma Willard traveled to Berlin for the first match up between the two teams and took control right away. Berlin allowed the visitors to take a ten point lead in the first quarter, 17-7.

In the second quarter, Angel Reed helped the Mountaineers stay in the game, scoring six points and playing tough defense. At halftime the score was Emma Willard 27, Berlin 15.
In the second half it was like a whole new Berlin team. Lindsey DePaolis scored six points in the third quarter as Berlin cut the lead to single digits. Berlin shaved two points off the lead, outscoring the Jesters 14-12. With eight minutes remaining, Emma Willard led 39-29. Katlynn Willis led the Lady Mountaineers in the final quarter, scoring 8 points and helping Berlin come back to within two points. Unfortunately for Berlin, they could not get over that last bump and take the lead. Emma Willard won 50-43. Despite the loss the Lady Mountaineers played well in the second half, coming back from as far down as 20 points to make it a close game.
Angel Reed’s 14 points led the team while Willis added 10. Berlin is now in second place with an 11-1 record, trailing an undefeated Germantown team.
