To the Editor:
My name is Miriam Ascarelli, and I am working on a book about Dorothy Harrison Eustis (1886-1946), the founder of the Seeing Eye, the first guide-dog school in America. From 1906 up until his death in 1915, Dorothy was the wife of Walter A. Wood Jr., whose name I’m sure you will recognize as the son of Walter Wood, the founder of the Wood farm machinery company, which for years operated in Hoosick Falls. I’m writing because I know the country club was founded in 1908, which coincides with the time in which Dorothy was living in Hoosick Falls. I’m wondering if perhaps you know if she was involved in getting the country club off the ground. If so, this would be useful for me, as I am trying to collect information about what Dorothy’s life was like during her years in Hoosick Falls.
Any information you have would be most appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Miriam Ascarelli
