Margaret J. Hawks

Eagle Bridge – Margaret J. “Peggy” Hawks, 64, a resident of Shaftsbury Hollow Road, Eagle Bridge, NY, died on Saturday, February 7, 2009, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. 

 

Born in Cambridge, NY, on August 16, 1944, Peggy was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Hammond) Gardner. She grew up in Hoosick Falls, NY, where she was a 1962 graduate of Hoosick Falls High School. It was in Hoosick Falls that Peggy was married to Richard Hawks on March 7, 1971. They made their home for several years in White Creek, NY. 

Peggy had been employed at the Eveready Battery Company in Bennington, VT, for more than 30 years, retiring in 2003. She enjoyed 50s music and was a devoted Elvis fan. She liked to gamble and also enjoyed going to the casinos with her daughter, Maxine. She was an animal lover and, in earlier years, had enjoyed camping and snowmobiling with her family.

Peggy leaves her husband, Richard Hawks of White Creek, her sons, William and wife Laurie Bartolotta of Hoosick Falls and Brian Hawks and his fiancÄ Lee Ann Lykstad of Dorset, VT, a daughter, Maxine and husband Thomas Brandalik of Hoosick Falls, a brother, William Gardner of North Hoosick, NY, a sister, Betty Slocum of Greenwich, NY, and her grandchildren, Jennifer, Ann, Sara, Heather, Christopher, Nicholas and Krislyn.

Funeral services were held at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home on Friday, February 13, at 4 pm with Reverend Michael A. DeMasi officiating. Friends called at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 7 pm with the family present.
