Marion Burdick

Petersburgh – Mrs. Marion Marie Burdick, 81, a resident of Dean Road, Pownal, VT, died at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bennington, VT, on Thursday evening February 12, 2009.

 

Born in Petersburgh, NY, on March 4,1927, Mrs. Burdick was the daughter of the late Frank W. and Florence A. (Crandall) Stevens. She received her education in Hoosick Falls and was a graduate of Hoosick Falls High School. She was married to Lawrence C. Burdick in North Pownal, VT, on May 31,1952, Mr. Burdick died April 3,1997. She had worked for many years at the former Pownal Tanning Company and then C.B. Sports in Bennington from which she retired. She was a devout member of the North Pownal Congregational Church where she taught Sunday School. She was well known in the area for wonderful cakes which she made for many residents’ special occasions. She was a homebody who thoroughly enjoyed her large family.

She leaves her eleven children, John and wife Rita Burdick of North Pownal, Lawrence Burdick of Bennington, Leland and wife Ruth Burdick of Hoosick, NY, Allen and wife Carol Burdick of Petersburgh, Jerry and wife Pat Burdick of Petersburgh, Mary and husband Curt Campbell of North Pownal, Linda and husband Ed Raetz of Pownal, Lois and husband Gary Maxon of Pownal, Louis Burdick of Bennington, Elaine and husband Randy Schnoop of North Pownal and Marcia and Ben Wilson of Live Oaks, FL, a sister, Jane Wesley of Petersburgh, and many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by brothers, Lewis, Earl, Warren and Doye Stevens, and a sister, Lydia Stevens.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, February 15, at 5 pm at the North Pownal Congregational Church. Friends called at the Church on Sunday from 3 to 5 pm with the family present. Burial will take place in the spring in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Memorial gifts in memory of Mrs. Burdick may be made to the North Pownal Congregational Church in care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street, Bennington, VT, 05201.
