Mountaineer Grapplers Fall On Senior Night

February 6, 2009 By eastwickpress

by Ryan Mosher

This week the Berlin wrestling team honored their four seniors before their dual meet against Waterford. Max Fischer, Billy Scully, Kelsey Longhi and Bobby Blessing are this year’s seniors. Both Waterford and Berlin have small wrestling teams, and head to head, there were a total of ten forfeits. Berlin was awarded five forfeits while Waterford took two, and there were three double-forfeits. So before the wrestling even started, Berlin led 30-12. Unfortunately for the Mountaineers, Waterford won all five matches to edge Berlin out for the 40-30 win.

In exhibition matches, senior Max Fischer jumped out to an 11-1 lead in the first period, before pinning his opponent :43 seconds into the second period. Classmate Billy Scully did not even need that much time as he pinned his opponent in just 1:27. Also in an exhibition match, Tessa Ranellucci won.
