NYS Health Insurance Forum At The Hoosick Youth Center

February 27, 2009 By eastwickpress

Do you need health insurance? Has your family lost its coverage due to unemployment or a reduction in work hours? Are you a working adult who needs health insurance but cannot afford the premiums? Are you a young adult who can no longer be covered by your parents’ plan? New York State may be able to help.

New York has expanded its health insurance programs for children, teens and adults through Medicaid, Child Health Plus and Family Health Plus. Through these programs, every uninsured child and teen in New York, and nearly 40 percent of uninsured adults are eligible for health care coverage. Program participants can get physical exams, preventative and emergency care, diagnosis and treatment of illness and injury, as well as prescription and non-prescription medication.

Representatives from the New York State Department of Health will present a health insurance information session on at 6:30 pm on Thursday, March 5, at the Hoosick Falls Youth Center. Enrollment onsite will be available to those who can provide proof of age, identity, home address, income and citizenship or immigration status. Refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Hoosick Area Partnership for Parents & Youth (HAPPY). The Youth Center is located on the corner of Church and Center Streets in the Village of Hoosick Falls. Everyone is welcome.

For additional information on the insurance forum, call the Youth Center at 686-9050. Questions on the NYS health insurance programs should be directed to 1-800-698-4543 (for child coverage) or 1-877-9FHPLUS (for adult coverage).
