On Friday, February 6, the Hoosick Falls bowling team won the Section II C-D Bowling Tournament for the second time in three years. Their total pin count was 6,147 for five bowlers rolling six games each. Their total was 345 pins ahead of second place Schuylerville and 385 pins ahead of third place Middleburgh. The lane conditions were more difficult than in the past three years, but the Hoosick Falls team was able to make the necessary adjustments to have some great scores. Joey Wolfrum led the team with a great 290 game and a six game total of 1,367 which was the high game and high total of the tournament. Joey now has to wait until the “A” and “B” teams bowl on Monday and Tuesday to see if he qualifies for the State team. Other great scores by Hoosick Falls bowlers were Corey Callahan 257-1,247, Jake Colliano 234-1,240, Chris Pelletier 253-1,222, and Danielle Pelletier 216-1,071. Justin Carter and Mitchell Andrew were members of the team but did not bowl. The team had the highest pin total for each game except for the last game where they missed the high total by just 18 pins.
“This was a great win after we fell short of winning our division by just one half of a point to Schuylerville, the second best team in the league. The kids really handled that loss well and went on and bowled great at this tournament. They knew that they just had a bad day and could come back and bowl good at Sectionals. They did a great job adjusting to the lane conditions which the other teams struggled with all day. Some days you make the right moves and others you don’t. I was so proud of the team because they worked so hard this year to improve their game and win the big events. Once again, we won because we bowled as a team, and if they had a bad frame or a bad game they came back and each contributed to the victory!” Coach Lang said.
