Relay For Life Publicity Coordinator and Advocacy Co-Chair Erica Rogers said, “We have all been affected by the struggling economy, job losses and the uncertainty of this new year. Remember that people are continuing to be diagnosed with cancer every day. More than ever they will need the help and services provided by the American Cancer Society. Research must continue to find a cure for this devastating disease that impacts not only the person diagnosed but their family as well.”
This year the Bennington Relay for Life will focus on celebrating the community’s 13th year of Relay participation and the 25th anniversary of Relay For Life nationwide. Most importantly, said Rogers, it will celebrate survivors.
Anyone interested in forming or joining a Relay team this year, please join the organizing committee at the Moose Lodge, 916 Main St., Bennington, VT, on Thursday, February 12, from 5:30 to 7 pm. Dr. Orion Howard from the Cancer Center will be guest speaker. Music will be provided by Ray Crosier, and refreshments will be provided by the Moose. Come and meet team members and captains and enjoy an evening with music, fun and prizes. “As always, we are fortunate to live in a community that is generous and supportive of our efforts,” said Rogers.
