Valentine’s Day Crafts With Nancy
Join SML staff member Nancy Royce for a Valentine’s Day craft project on Saturday, February 7 at 2 pm. Advance registration is requested.
Black Valentine’s Party
Teens in grades 9-12 are invited to come celebrate Black Valentine’s Day on Friday, February 13, from 9 pm to midnight. Wear black, bring valentines to shred and join us for food and music. Anyone younger than ninth grade will be served up as a side dish. No pink allowed.
Sunday Classics Film Series
Showcasing classic films in black and white or color that are suitable for all ages. Join us for popcorn and refreshments as we watch some of the best films from the past. This month’s film is South Pacific starring Mitzi Gaynor and Rossano Brazzi. It will be shown on Sunday, February 15, at 2 pm in the Library Community Room.
Digital Photo Basics Class
Join Bob Saltz for this evening class on Tuesday, February 17, from 7 to 8:30 pm. Bob will introduce you to using the computer to enhance, organize and email your digital photos. This class is designed for the novice photographer with little or no experience with computer photo work. Beginners are welcome and absolutely no experience is needed. In fact, those with prior experience and advanced beginners may find the evening too basic for them. If the demand is there, other classes may be offered at another time and date.
The class will include correcting incorrectly exposed photos, cropping techniques, special effects and many other features of a free program available online called Picasa 3. The program is available for both PC and Mac computers. Advance registration is appreciated.
Vacation Week Family Movie
On Wednesday, February 18, at 1 pm we will show the newly released Space Buddies, featuring Disney’s talking golden retriever puppies as they take a trip to the moon. Popcorn and drinks will be served.
Pajama Storytime
Wear your pjs and bring your favorite stuffed animal, along with a parent or caregiver. We will listen to stories and have some laughs! Join us Thursday, February 19, at 6:30 pm for some family fun. In celebration of the Stephentown Elementary School Books & Beyond program, our guest reader will be a familiar face from SES.
Tween Night
Come join us for our monthly Tween Night for 10 to 14-year olds. This month will feature DDR, board games, pizza and refreshments. Bring your friends on Friday, February 20, at 6:30 pm.
SML Unplugged
Gather you singers, songwriters, musicians and poets! Artists of all ages are welcome to join our monthly Open Mic event on Sunday, February 22, from 1 to ? pm. Show off your talents or come to listen.
Book Discussion Group
Meets the first Thursday of each month at 1 pm in the Library Community Room. The book selection for March 5 will be Greg Mortenson’s Three Cups of Tea. New members are always welcome. Stop by the Library for details and/or to borrow a copy of this book.
Local Author Parenting Program
Local psychologist Dr. David Anderegg will speak on the topic, “More Advice Than You’ll Ever Need: Using Your Values to Guide Parenting Decisions” on Tuesday, March 3, at 7 pm. Dr. Anderegg is a member of the faculty at Bennington College and the author of several books, including Worried All the Time: Overparenting in an Age of Anxiety and How to Stop It and his latest book, Nerds: Who They Are and Why We Need More of Them. Advance registration is required.
