Use Your Values In Parenting Decisions

February 27, 2009 By eastwickpress

On Tuesday, March 3, at 7 pm the Stephentown Memorial Library, 472 Route 43, will present “More Advice than You’ll Ever Need: Using Your Values to Guide Parenting Decisions” with local psychologist/author David Anderegg, Ph.D.

Parenting can seem to be the hardest job in the world. But, as Dr. David Anderegg often says, “It’s an endurance test, not an engineering problem!” In this talk, Dr. Anderegg will address some of the reasons why contemporary parents feel that parenting is so hard and suggest some strategies that may help parents enjoy the job more and worry about it less.

Dr. Anderegg has been a child therapist for twenty five years. He did his pre-doctoral training at Harvard Medical School and served as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Austen Riggs Center. He has served on the faculties of Tufts University and the Smith College School of Social Work, and he is now on the faculty of Bennington College. His scholarly publications focus on psychoanalytic theory and practice especially in relation to play and creativity. He has been a mental health consultant for pre- through high schools and has consulted to parent groups at all levels as well.

Reservations are appreciated. Please call the Stephentown Memorial Library at 518-733-5750 to reserve a space.
