Vivian I. Millard

Johnsonville – Vivian I. Millard, 77, died Sunday, February 8, 2009, at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY. Vivian resided in Johnsonville, NY, with her companion and best friend Charles Russell. Her husband Ralph Millard died in 1993.

 

Born in Berlin, NY, on June 7, 1931, Vivian was the daughter of the late Delmar and Mildred (Lackey) Amidon. She attended schools in Berlin, and, at the age of thirty-nine, Vivian received her high school diploma from Hoosic Valley High School. She worked at the Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge, NY, as a Nurse’s Aid. Vivian was also a member of the Johnsonville Fire Department Auxiliary.

Survivors, other than her friend Charles, include three daughters, Patricia Lewis and husband Clifford Sr. of Lewis, NY, Barbara Powers and Rick Busta of Cohoes, NY and Sandy Millard and Robert Irwin of Troy, three sons, George and Michael and wife Kelly Millard, all of Salem, NY, and Raymond Millard and Shelly Heald of Buskirk, NY, three sisters, Helen Noyes of Valley Falls, NY, Stella Schonhaut of Lipsy, PA, and Joann Kellar of Berlin, and a brother, Clarence Michaels of Grafton, NY. She is also survived by four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rensselaer County Community Hospice through the funeral home. The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff on the sixth floor at the Samaritan Hospital and Reverend Michael Crandall of Community Hospice for all their care shown to the family.
