Stephentown – Freling S. Smith died peacefully at home on March 4, 2009. Born on November 30, 1915, in New York City, he was the son of Freling H. and Minnie Allen Smith. Mr. Smith attended the Collegiate School in Manhattan and Rollins College. As a young man, he moved to Stephentown, NY, where he farmed and where he raised his family.
He was pre-deceased in 1998 by his beloved wife of over sixty years, Marilyn Tubbs Smith, and in 2006 by his son, William. He is survived by his son, Freling H. Smith of Stephentown, and his daughter, Marilyn Beaty of Salem, NY, six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. A private family service is planned.
