The April pickup and ordering date for the Extra Helpings Community Food Buying Club in Stephentown is Thursday, March 26, from 3:30 to 6 pm at the Stephentown Federated Church on Garfield Road. The Extra Helpings program is part of the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York. It allows anyone to buy nutritious food at lower than retail prices. There are no limits on age, income, number of bundles or geography, so all smart shoppers are welcome and encouraged to participate.
The April choices are: $21 basic bundle – 1 lbs. 100% home-style beef patties, 2 lbs. boneless pork chops, 2 lbs. eye round beef steaks, 1 lb. pkg. chicken patties, 1 lb. bag coleslaw mix and 1 lb. bag baby carrots. Special #1 at $11.75 is a 5 lb. block of sliced white American cheese. Special # 2 at $9.75 is a 10 lb. bag of fresh chicken leg quarters. The Meat Box at $32 contains a 2 lb. chuck beef pot roast, 3 lbs. boneless skinless I.Q.F. chicken breasts, 3 lbs. sweet Italian rope sausage, 3 lbs. pepper steaks (8/6 oz.), and 2 lbs. breakfast sausage (4/8 oz. rolls).
Cash payment must be made when ordering. The pick up date is Thursday, April 23, from 3:30 to 6 pm at the Stephentown Federated Church. You may have another person order or pick up your order, but any food not claimed during the pick up hours will be donated to the food pantry.
