The Boyfriend Hits The Mark

March 27, 2009 By eastwickpress

submitted by Dianne Mosher

The Berlin HS Drama Club production of The Boyfriend was a rousing success on March 20 and 21. Directed by Dianne Mosher, choreographed by SC Riddering and accompanied by Karen Webster, the students at BCS charmed their way into the audience’s hearts with the Charleston, the Riviera and other dances. Emily Olson’s rendition of “Nicer in Nice” had the audience laughing with every “Ooo-la-la.” Ency Burhans and Rachel Gordon’s duet, “My Little Pierrotte,” was absolutely music to the listener’s ears. Senior Nate Pomakoy gave his all to his final high school performance showing his strength in music as well as acting. Seniors Paige Riddering and Ben Amendolara created notable characters in the 1920s musical as Maisie and Bobby. Paige’s experience on the stage was an asset as she guided newcomer Ben in both singing and dancing. Also in the cast were Seniors Andrew Eckhardt, Nick Hillis, Pat Harrington, Mike Stankus and John Zwack. Sophomore cast members in addition to Olson and Gordon include Lydia Shorter, Katie Nicpon, Joe Wehle, Melissa Dawes and Chris Muller. Rounding out the cast were freshmen Kathy Amendolara and Caitlin Hungerford. Sets were built by Don Sweet, Andrew Eckhardt, Nick Hillis and stage crew Cole Riddering and Oskar S. The scenery was painted by Dan LaMontayne and Emma Brown.
