Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center is hosting a day long version of Capture the Flag on Saturday, April 18, from 10 am until 3 pm. This version of the popular kid’s game is played on a mile playing field in the woods. There is no running or tagging in this version so the physical aspect of the game is not that strenuous. However, the terrain is rough and rocky and participants must be prepared to travel off trail. Skills of camouflage, navigation and moving noiselessly through wooded areas are important but not a necessity.
All ages are welcome, adults, too. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult during the game. Dress for the weather and bring a lunch and drinks for the day. The fee is $10 per person, $25 per family with all proceeds going towards the Otter Cove land protection fund. For more information, please contact the Center at 658-2055 or dykenpond@fairpoint.net. This program is co-sponsored by the Tomokoce Wilderness Program.
Dyken Pond Center is a Rensselaer County Park open daily during daylight hours for hiking, fishing and picnics.
