The Petersburgh Children’s Garden Project is now accepting enrollment for the summer of 2009 camp sessions for children 8 to 10 years old. Children who take part will learn about the value of working in a group and, through the gardening process, will begin to understand what makes an effective, functional community. Camp activities will include selection of vegetables to be planted and design of the garden layout, as well as seeding, transplanting, soil building, caretaking and harvest of plants. Children will bring home the produce they have grown. Additional activities include storytelling, plant and insect identification and crafts.
Camp will be held on Wednesdays from 10 am to 2 pm at Digger’s Bend Farm in Petersburgh. The Garden Project will run from July through August. This is a free program and space is limited, so please register early! For more information, please visit www.diggersbendfarm.com or call Kim at 658-0338.
