Construction To Start On Dougherty Corner

April 24, 2009 By eastwickpress

by Bea Peterson

On Tuesday, April 21, Alex Koks purchased the vacant lot at the corner of John and Main Streets where Dougherty’s Restaurant once stood. The first order of business Koks said was to empty the lot of the building remnants and the fill that was placed in there only weeks ago by former owner Bryan Pello.

Koks said the independent three story building he’s planning will have a restaurant and kitchen on the first floor, three guest rooms on the second floor and three guest rooms on the third floor. The building will operate as a Bed & Breakfast.

Koks is working with the Laberge Group to select contractors. Funding from the Restore NY grant received by the Village is also in process, he said.

Koks already owns the Upsy Daisy building and Andra Erickson owns the building on Main St. next to the empty lot. This will give the couple the lovely downtown properties. Alex is excited about the project. “Somebody had to do something,” he said. The purchasing process has been going on for a long time, he added.
