Dorothy A. Bentley

Berlin – Dorothy A. Yerton Bentley, 89, of Greene’s Brook Road, Berlin, NY, died on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at her daughter’s residence under the care of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.

 

Born December 20, 1919, in Berlin, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Ada Bly Yerton. She was the loving wife of the late Jesse C. Bentley, who died in 1976.

A lifelong resident of Berlin, she was a 1937 graduate of Berlin High School. After her marriage and raising her family, she was employed by W.J. Cowee Co., Inc. for many years until her retirement. She was a former member of the Berlin Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary and was of the Methodist faith. She loved her flowers and loved to crochet.

Survivors include her children, Richard and his wife Josie Bentley and Allen C. Bentley, all of Berlin, Sandra and her husband Joseph Wescott of Valley Falls, NY, siblings, Donald Yerton and Margie Jones, both of Berlin, along with 14 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a son, Roger Bentley.

Funeral services are on Friday at 1 pm in the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh, NY, with interment to follow in the Meadowlawn Cemetery, Petersburgh. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral home for visitation starting at 11 am on Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY, 12144.
