Friends Of Cherry Plain State Park Spring Meeting

April 17, 2009 By eastwickpress

The Spring meeting of the Friends of Cherry Plain State Park will be held Thursday, April 23, at 6:30 pm at the Bridgeway Restaurant off Route 22 in Cherry Plain. The Friends group is looking for new members to help grow the organization and expand its action in the regional community and the State Park.

The meeting’s agenda includes an update on making better links between the State Park and bordering Capital District Wildlife Management Areas.  Group members have been drafting a map that covers both parcels of land, with trails and the types of permitted recreation noted as well.

The Park invites all lovers of the outdoors – from hikers to fishermen, parents to outdoor sportsmen – to attend.  Please RSVP by calling the Grafton Lakes State Park’s office at 279-1155 to ensure adequate seating at the Bridgeway Restaurant.

The Friends of Cherry Plain State Park is a sub-group of the Friends of Grafton Lakes State Park.  The parks are jointly managed, and visited regularly by neighboring communities.

Cherry Plain State Park is one of the Top 100 Family campgrounds in the United States, an accolade awarded by Reserve America.  Located in Cherry Plain, the Park features a sandy beach with swimming on Black River Pond, a pavilion, playground, picnic areas and boat rentals.

For more information, call Grafton Lakes State Park at 279-1155 or Cherry Plain State Park at 733-5400.
