Get A Jump Start On College This Summer

High school students finishing their sophomore or junior years this spring can now register for college level courses offered at Troy High School this summer. The classes, offered through Hudson Valley Community College’s College in the High School program, will run for six weeks, from Monday, June 29, through Friday, August 7. Classes will run five days a week. For a list of course descriptions and exact class times, please visit www.hvcc.edu/jumpstart. Students must register by Friday, June 19. 

 

The following courses will be offered – Principles of Macroeconomics, Creative Writing – Short Fiction, Precalculus and American National Government. Enrollments are limited to students at the following high schools, due to space availability – Averill Park, Berlin, Catholic Central, Cohoes, Columbia, Colonie, Heatly, Hoosic Valley, Hoosick Falls, Lansingburgh, La Salle, Maple Hill, Rensselaer, Shaker, Tamarac, Troy, Watervliet and Waterford-Halfmoon. Course offerings may change due to student demand.

College in the High School courses cost $37 per credit hour and are taught by college faculty members and high school teachers who are members of Hudson Valley’s adjunct faculty. Students will earn Hudson Valley credit for the courses which are transferable to most four-year colleges and universities.
