GS Troop Thinks Green And Service While Raising Money

April 3, 2009 By eastwickpress

Hoosick Falls Girl Scout Troop #1313 is raising money with various fund-raisers for an August 2009 trip to Washington, DC, but they aren’t forgetting about one part of the Girl Scout Law – “to make the world a better place, and to be a sister to every Girl Scout.”

On Wednesday, March 4, Troop #1313 hosted a Decorate-Your-Own ‘Bootie’ Bag Workshop for about 25 Girl Scouts in fourth and fifth grade. As part of the workshop, each girl received a denim bag, made lovingly by Nancy Hickey from jeans donated by friends and family of Troop #1313 and then each girl decorated her bag with donated buttons, beads, gems, belts, scarves, fabric paints and much more. Not only did all the girls have a fun, creative time, but they also learned how to take everyday items and make something beautiful – and useful!
