Letter To The Editor – Fed Up

April 3, 2009 By eastwickpress

Letter to the Editor,

On Tuesday, March 31, there was a Berlin School Board meeting. It lasted twenty minutes after executive session.

Architects were asked to be present at this meeting, and these same architects, who left another job to get to our School Board meeting, did nothing. The architects, lawyer, people relevant to the meeting and the public were all left waiting in the hallway for fifteen minutes after executive session should have been over. The meeting began at approximately 7:18 pm. The meeting ended at 7:33 pm.

The architects were there because certain members on the Board wanted them present. These same members of the Board who wanted them present are the members who caused the meeting to adjourn early. These members, Morelli and Stewart, continuously tried to bring up the budget, which was not planned for this night. The Board knew ahead of time that the budget would not be ready for the March 31 meeting; this is why a separate meeting was planned for Thursday April 2 to discuss the budget.

Nearly half of the members on the School Board are a joke. These members need more things explained and clarified than if they were a student with no prior knowledge of the proceedings. When a person needs to have something explained or clarified at least five times during a twenty minute meeting, then you know that this person is either an idiot or untactfully trying to put off the inevitable. This person also managed to repeatedly insult both the Business Administrator and the interim Superintendant during this same twenty minute time span.

Thank You Ms.

Gregory

Charlotte Gregory is here to help our district. She is here when no one else would take the job. When a person is doing something in order to help another person, or in this case another group, you should thank them, not insult them. We need to start thanking Ms. Gregory for the job she is doing as interim Superintendent. If it weren’t for Ms. Gregory, our district would most likely be up that infamous and dreaded creek.

Some of our School Board members need to realize how much Ms. Gregory helps as opposed to hinders. These members need to adjust their attitudes in regard to Ms. Gregory and thank her for a change, though the effort may hurt them somewhat; I am sure that Ms. Gregory would appreciate it.

Sincerely fed up,

Phoebe Paine (2009 BCS graduating class)
