New Lebanon Book Group

April 24, 2009 By eastwickpress

The New Lebanon Book Group has selected Marianne Wiggins’ novel The Shadow Catcher for its upcoming discussions on Sunday, May 3, at 11 am at Hitchcock House, Route 22, New Lebanon, and again on Thursday, May 21, at 7 pm at the New Lebanon Library, 550 Route #20, New Lebanon.

Wiggins tells the story of Edward Sheriff Curtis, the enigmatic photographer of the American West, from her own point of view, through a fictionalized version of herself, called by her own name. The Publisher’s Weekly reviewer said of the book, “…Wiggins’ eighth novel is a heartfelt tour de force,” and The Washington Post reviewer Wendy Smith noted, “There are passages in Marianne Wiggins’ eighth novel so piercingly beautiful that I put the book down, shook my head and simply said, ‘Wow’”.

Marianne Wiggins is the author of seven books of fiction, including John Dollar and the National Book Award finalist in fiction, Evidence of Things Unseen.
