Phoebe Elizabeth Richard

April 17, 2009 By eastwickpress

Hoosick Falls – Phoebe Elizabeth (Lisa) Richard, 52, of Ellenville, NY, died Thursday, April 9, 2009. She was born to William and Dorothy Peckham in Troy, NY, on May 20, 1956. Lisa graduated from Emma Willard School and attended SUNY Oneonta, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education. For many years, she worked as an habilitation specialist for the State of New York’s Hudson Valley DDSO Black Hawk I.C.F. facility in Pine Bush, serving individuals with physical, developmental and mental handicaps.

In addition to spending time with her immediate family, Lisa developed a strong interest in Native American culture, reading literature, attending pow-wows, establishing friendships and learning how to make jewelry and crafts from hides, deer bones and various beads. In fact, with the moniker “Beaded Wolf,” she would display and sell her wares at various events. Other hobbies over the years included science fiction (hosting an author’s visit at her house) and playing piano, clarinet and guitar.

Lisa is survived by her parents in Hoosick Falls, NY, her husband Charles and son Brian, her brother Stewart and her brother-in-law Francis, along with nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours at Loucks Funeral Home, 79 North Main Street in Ellenville, NY, took place on Monday, April 13, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.
