Rensselaer County Historical Society Sponsors High School Art Contest

The Rensselaer County Historical Society invites students who reside or attend high school in Rensselaer County to participate in its first annual Art of History competition. Submissions will be exhibited at the Historical Society, and the first place winner will receive $100 cash.

 

For the competition, students create artwork inspired by documents from the archives of the Historical Society. The documents for this year’s competition focus on the Great Fire of Troy, which occurred on May 10, 1862.  The documents, complete contest rules and entry forms and further historical background information are all available on the Rensselaer County Historical Society’s website at http://www.rchsonline.org/aoh.html.  

Students may enter artwork in any media.  The deadline to submit work is May 2, however students must alert the Historical Society April 24 that they intend to enter. artwork by April 24, 2009.
