The Rite Aid on Main St. in Hoosick Falls reopened Monday, March 30. The previous Monday the store was closed when water in the basement was discovered to have an oily sheen on it. Oily/varnish-like fumes filled the building. “This problem is found pretty commonly in many older homes,” said Rite Aid Corporation spokesman Eric S. Harkreader. The building has been rented by Rite Aid for many years. “The landlord was notified. The standing water and the odor were moved,” Harkreader said.
“The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and the NYS Pharmaceutical Board examined the building and its contents and said there were no contaminants. As a result, the store reopened on Monday for business as usual,” said Harkreader.
